"I only wash my hair once every 5-7 days" that's my answer when I get asked why is my hair so healthy and shiny. I know it might gross some people out and not considered normal but it's been my routine since I was a kid. Back then I had no choice, hair day was every Sunday. Mami would round all of us up and set our hair in rollers. (I've been traumatized by those dryers after having to spend hours under it) as I got older I learned how to give my self a Dominican Blowout (more on that at a later time), and the rest is history.
I am fully aware that not all you guys can go that long in between washed but if your hair is curly which in turn tends to be dryer, then washing everyday will actually dry it out more. Natural hair oils work miracles and we must give it a chance to works its way down a bit to nourish the hair. My hair is curly and even though each strand is thin, there is a whole lot of it so this works best for me. I wash with Fresa's Volume Shampoo and use Fresa's Moisture Conditioner about once a week. If I must wash in between I tend to co-wash. AG Cleansing Cream from their new Texture line is my new obsession for that. It cleanses without stripping and no need for conditioner.
If your hair tends to be oiler or you just can't go a day without washing, try skipping a day of shampooing and just co wash. Your hair will thank you in the long run.
All products I use are Sulfate and Paraben Free. And I try to stay away from anything with silicones since they tend to build up and cause breakage in the long run (I'm looking at you Pantene and Wen) That is so important and your hair will thank you in the long run.
Give it a try and let us know what you think. How often do you guys go between washing?
